Eight weeks every year, kids participate in targeted activities that foster independence and growth. STARS develops activity menus based on Needs Assessments for the specific participating children. This maximizes program funds by eliminating wasteful spending on unneeded or undesirable projects. The needs and supports of each STARS child are addressed to allow full participation in every activity module. This strength-based model maximizes program impact. In the past, STARS enacted swimming and walking regimes as part of the physical well-being module. Academic, pre-academic, attention, pre-vocational, self-determination, and sensory needs are also frequent family concerns STARS addresses throughout the summer.
