TriCounty provides Early Intervention services to children ages birth to 3 years old who live in Fayette or Lamar County.
Alabama Department of Rehabilitation defines eligibility as any infant or toddler ages birth until age 3 years who has a 25 percent or greater delay in cognitive, physical, communicative, social, emotional or adaptive development. A child who has a diagnosis of a physical and/or medical condition that places them at risk for a developmental delay is also eligible.
Call Early Intervention Child Find number, 1-800-543-3098 (or TTY 800-499-1816).
After you call the 800 phone number, someone will contact the family for further information and to schedule an assessment. If the child is found eligible an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) team will be formed to determine which services the child and family needs. The family is part of this team. Services may include:
- assistive technology devices and services
- family training
- counseling and home visits
- health services (that are not purely medical or surgical in nature)
- medical services (for diagnosis or evaluation only)
- occupational therapy
- physical therapy
- psychological services
- service coordination
- social work and special instruction
- speech/language pathology services
- transportation-related costs
- vision services
Not all children and families will need all services.
TriCounty case managers seek to assist families in locating services that promote family community inclusion.
